Currently the state has 10 percent of the world's tropical forests remaining. Indonesia original forest has lost 72 percent of [World Resource Institute, 1997]. Logging in Indonesia is not restrained during the decades has caused a shrinking tropical forests and the damage is massive.

Forest damage period 1985-1997 was 1.6 million hectares per year, and the damage this number increased in the period 1997-2000 to be 3.8 million hectares per year. This makes Indonesia one of the country to the level of damage to forests in the world.

Based on the results of Landsat image of 2000 there were 101.73 million hectares of forest and land in Indonesia that have been damaged, of which 59.62 million hectares of plantation in the forest area.

In Java, the 16-century to mid-18 the century to the existing natural forest, is still estimated around 9 million hectares. But at the end of the 1980s, closing the wide natural forests in only 0.97 million hectares or about 7 percent of the total island wide.

Forest damage occurred in the most serious is when the year 1997-1998, forest clearing occurs everywhere. Forest clearing going to do much in the individual by society and government. Trees that are hundreds of years have been exhausted within a few minutes.

Many solutions have been made by several parties such as governments, NGOs, the intellectual, as well as from the community. Problem-solving in the forest is usually done with a variety of methods, such as seminars, workshops, planting a thousand trees, planting one tree per person, or solutions of others.

Any method that is done by some parties will feel difficult to get in, if we still can not appreciate the oxygen out of the corner of the green trees around us. Are we still waiting for a disaster like the first, like a new. Would have cut down trees that render a lot of us in the body.
